A meditation mala (rosary) is a string of beads that is traditionally used in meditation for counting breaths and mantras (repeated physically or mentally). It helps you to clear the mind and reduce stress. It teaches you to return to and stay with your meditation practice. A full mala contains 108 beads - plus one more that has a tuft, the guru bead. Between each bead there is a knot. The knots strengthen the mala and make it easy and comfortable to use it.
Let your intuitive attraction rather than your intellect decide which mala to choose for your meditation practice. Take good care of your meditation mala. It is a subtle tool and highly private, not to be worn as jewellery. Keep it safe in a little pouch when not using it for meditation.
In case you join one of our retreats at Håå Retreat Center (10 days or longer), you will need a meditation mala with 108 beads.
